We have a property we rent selectively on the island and like to try new (to us) places in the area. We tried Beach Bums last week for sandwiches. We went back this week to try their pizza after seeing it being served to others our first visit. Pizza was great! Jen the bartender is great-whole staff is very friendly and they work well together. Fun drinks on their menu as well as a standard bar selection. Nice option to have in our rotation of dining options.

Our first night at topsail Island we did it to go order and so glad that we did. The pizza was perfect and the calzone was even better. I would really suggest ordering the day or checking in from Beach bums so you don't have to worry about cooking or packing food to feed the family. The food was so large we ate for two days off of the same quarter. My in-laws got the cheese steak and a hamburger and they really enjoyed it and my kids ate every bit of their fries.
Later that week we headed back without the kids and enjoyed a drink outside on the patio. The service was quick efficient and everything was clean.
They had both indoor and outdoor seating and I plan to be back!

He Said: A pretty quiet time during the off-season, even on a Friday night. We brought a big group, but got seated easily and waited on efficiently. They have a good beer selection, some sports on TV, and plenty of food choices. We had some inside info that the stromboli was all that mattered, so we got one to split. It is a nice-sized offering, and I could probably eat one alone if not for the tasty crab dip, basket of fries, and the mozz sticks, so splitting it was definitely the right call. And, yes, it's great. Get it.
Big shout out to the staff for the service, friendliness, and handling of our boisterous group.
She Said: I think he covered it all well, but since we had a newly minted two-year-old in our crowd, I want to call out the french fries as being particularly tasty AND they were free of the special salt flavorings that some places have taken to adding to a basket of fries. These were just piping-hot potatoey goodness without a heavy hand on the salt and without any extra seasonings. I'm pretty sure my granddaughter was psyched with them.
Also, He mentioned it, but kudos to the staff who took such nice care of us even though we were a large group with lots of dietary restrictions and a sometimes-cranky little one. We've come in during our past two visits to the island, and we'll definitely be back next time.

Daniel was our bartender for the entire week that we visited! The service was awesome! He made you feel like a regular here! We also got to meet the owner and he was very helpful on things to do in the area. We were also able to try three different types of pizza, all of which were phenomenal and I highly recommend the crab dip! Had a good selection of local beers on tap and delicious, frozen mixed drinks! We will make sure to book our vacation next year somewhere within walking distance to beach bums because it was so nice to hang out here!
